West Orange High School graduate Jordan Mohr, 19, is continuing to take the music world by storm.
We first told you about Mohr here, when she released her first single, “Haunted House,” in 2021.
Mohr has now received three nominations for the Josie Music Awards, the largest music award show in the independent music industry.
The mission of the awards is “to honor, recognize and reward excellence, outstanding talents, and remain focused on the creativity across the independent music industry,” according to the organization’s official website.
Mohr was selected out of almost 60,000 submissions, with only about 2.5% of submissions being nominated.
The three categories Mohr has been nominated in are female rising star of the year, female music video of the year and female best performance in a music video.
“Quite honestly, I was surprised because there were over 59,000 submissions of very talented, aspiring music artists,” Mohr shared. “I’m humbled to be recognized. Especially because I’m only two years into my music journey. It really my gives me confidence that I’m on the right path.”
The ninth annual Josie Music Awards will be held on Oct. 22 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

Mohr said almost any new artist will often struggle with the question “Am I on the right career path?”
“I know I’m moving in the right direction because I wake up everyday, excited to work towards my goals,” she said. “Ever since I was a little girl I’ve wanted to be a performer. Around the age of 3 we were at a Christmas party and I just walked up to the stage where a man was singing and I grabbed the mic and started singing. I’ve been performing on stage ever since. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.”
Currently, the young artist is continuing to work hard so she can transition to Nashville as the next step in her career.
“I’m currently continuing to become proficient on my guitar and I spend a lot of time in the studio and working on new songs,” she said. “I’m focusing on the marketing side of my business as well. As an independent artist you are your own label, booking agent, manager, promoter and, of course, performer.”
Locals will next be able to see Mohr perform live at the 2023 Southern Fellow’s Birthday Bash July 29 in New Smyrna Beach.
