The favourite contender for the upcoming $110,000 Sportsbet Pink Diamond Champion Sprinter final at Warragul is none other than the homegrown sprint sensation, Rejuvenate.
This champion greyhound is the product of a fifty-year dream for veteran breeders Ian and Maureen Brown, hailing from Loch, Gippsland.
They started their journey in the greyhound racing world back in 1972, and Rejuvenate, they claim, is the best they’ve ever bred in their illustrious career of half a century.
Ian Brown reflects, “It’s a bit late in life but he’s the best dog we’ve ever bred in 50 years!”
The Brown’s have had some noteworthy dogs in the past, such as Mr. Arkwright, who narrowly missed the Association Cup in Sydney.
But Rejuvenate, in their eyes, is “one out of the box”.
Rejuvenate, a son of Hooked On Scotch and Zall Good, was initially trained by the Brown’s son, Paul, for his first 22 starts.
Paul’s introduction to the training ranks was nothing short of a dream, with Rejuvenate breaking Shepparton’s 450m track record (24.59sec) and winning the Group 3 Northern Districts Cup and Shepparton Classic.
He also qualified for the Group 1 Silver Chief Classic with a nearly record-breaking heat victory of 29.47 seconds.
However, Rejuvenate’s training was transferred to the capable hands of Jamie and Brooke Ennis due to Paul’s work commitments.
Making his first appearance with the new trainers, Rejuvenate displayed his impressive speed and will to win in the Pink Diamond heats at Geelong, achieving a thrilling last-stride victory over River Rough in 25.61 seconds.

Despite this transition, Rejuvenate’s past performance at Warragul is noteworthy.
He has won two out of three races over the 460m track and was victorious in his only start over the 400m course.
His litter brother, Hot Scotch, was the runner-up in the previous year’s Pink Diamond finals at Ballarat.
Rejuvenate’s lineage adds another layer of intrigue to his story.
His mother, Zall Good, was bought by Ian when she was four months old.
Zall Good’s first litter to Cosmic Rumble all won races, and Rejuvenate is from her second litter.
Unfortunately, Rejuvenate’s brother, Full On Scotch, who showed promising potential, had to be put down due to a blood problem after only three starts.
Rejuvenate is the +170 favourite with greyhound betting sites to win the $75,000 to-the-winner 2023 Listed Pink Diamond Champion Sprint final on Friday night.
