SHANE Lowry has taken to video as he paid an incredible gesture to his good friend Tommy Fleetwood after his RBC Canadian playoff loss to Nick Taylor.
Taylor defeated the Clara star’s pal Fleetwood to become the first home player to win the Canadian Open in 69 years after he holed an incredible 72-foot putt.
The eagle on the fourth playoff hole was a first tour win for PGA Tour win for the Canadian.
Taylor, who finished on 17-under-par, said after the tournament: “I’m speechless. This is for all the guys that are here. This is for my family at home.
“This is the most incredible feeling.”
But there was more heartache for the popular Fleetwood as he looked to land his first PGA Tour victory.
The Englishman said: “I played great today, even though I missed some chances, if you like, on those playoff holes,
“Yeah, it was close. I just have to take the positives from it and start practicing tomorrow. I got a major next week. So can’t dwell on it too much.”
And after the playoff, the Offaly ace took to social media as he said he was gutted for his pal.
He posted a video of him hugging the English golf star, and captioned it by saying: “Gutted for Tommy but another great @rbccanadianopen@ntaylorgolf59.”
Fleetwood and close pal Lowry enjoyed some time with their family in Dublin last Christmas.
Lowry and his partner Wendy were joined by Fleetwood, his wife Clare and their two young children.
Lowry shared the image of the group under the famous Christmas lights on Grafton Street, Dublin, with the iconic Bewley’s cafe in the background.
The Offaly native shared the image on social media, with the caption: “Showing the Fleetwood’s the big smoke.”
Fleetwood replied to the post, saying: “Dublin with Irish Royalty!!!”
Wendy Lowry also shared the image, saying: “Tour guides for the night.”
Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas will also be teeing it up alongside one another at this week’s US Open in LA.
