A man faced Wollongong Local Court on Sunday, charged over the alleged armed robbery of a Wollongong business overnight.
Just after 6.00pm (Saturday 11 June 2023), officers from Wollongong Police were called to a licensed premises on the Princes Highway at Figtree, following reports of an armed robbery.
Police were told a man allegedly threatened staff and demanded money, before leaving the premises with a sum of cash.

The man was last seen walking in southerly direction on the Princes Highway.
Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
A short time later, police located a man hiding in bushes on O’Donnell Drive, Figtree
During a search man was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of cash – which police will allege was proceeds of the robbery – and a gold-coloured torch lighter in the man’s backpack.
The 29-year-old man arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon.
