Outlook for Today (Tuesday)
Risk Areas
The Storm Prediction Center has defined 2 risk areas for Tuesday.
Central and South Alabama is under a “slight risk” (level 2/5)
North and Lower Alabama is under a “marginal risk” (level 1/5)
National Weather Service
Timing
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the “high-resolution model suggests the most widespread rain today could very well come during the morning hours.”
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that we could also expect active weather during the “afternoon with a possible lull during the evening, then another round overnight/generally after midnight.”
Threats
“Heavier storms will be capable of producing strong winds and some hail,” said Spann.
Stay weather aware as our area faces a flood risk that could start in the overnight hours. There is a concern for damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour.
Also, there is a chance for “hail up to hen egg size (2 inches),” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
