Successful tyre deflation, Earlville
Three people have been charged after a vehicle was stolen from a Whitfield residence on Sunday night, June 11.
It will be alleged on the night of June 11, a group of people gained access to a Hillview Crescent residence, stole a set of keys inside, and left the area in a vehicle that was parked at the property.
It will be further alleged around 9:30pm last night, the vehicle was spotted by patrolling officers in the Earlville area before a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed.
The vehicle continued to travel for a short distance before coming to a stop, with three people allegedly seen fleeing from the vehicle.
Officers located the three alleged people a short time later, with a further search locating the keys to the vehicle.
A 19-year-old Manoora woman was charged with two counts of receiving tainted property, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter dwelling and commit.
She was denied police bail and is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today, June 13.
A 13-year-old Edmonton girl was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of common assault, stealing and trespass.
A 15-year-old White Rock girl was charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of stealing.
Both were denied bail and are due to appear in Cairns Childrens Court.
Suspicious fire, Cairns North
Police are appealing for information after a vehicle was set alight at a Cairns North unit complex last night.
Initial investigations indicate officers were called to the Digger Street address around 10:30pm after reports of the Toyota Camry on fire.
The nearby unit complex was evacuated by officers before emergency services arrived a short time later and extinguished the fire.
Cairns detectives commenced an investigation and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone that was travelling in the area that may have captured something on dashcam to contact police.
