Bachar Houli, a former Richmond premiership player, is recovering in a hospital following a serious car accident that occurred in the Snowy Mountains.
According to reports, the 35-year old athlete was driving a Jeep on a private property in Bringenbrong (New South Wales) when it rolled. He is known for his contributions with both Tigers and Essendon, having played 232 AFL matches. Around 9am on Sunday, the incident took place.
Houli was taken to Albury Hospital after the accident, where he was diagnosed with a punctured lungs, a broken shoulder and a fractured pelvis. On Sunday night he was then flown to Melbourne, where his condition is stable. A 39-year old man was also in the car with Houli and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a Canberra hospital. A third person, 42 years old, was fortunately uninjured.
New South Wales Police confirmed they are investigating a single vehicle crash. The Bachar Houli foundation, founded by Houli himself, issued a statement saying that the former AFL player is still in good spirits, despite his injuries. The Bachar Houli Foundation expressed its support for Houli, and asked for prayers on behalf of his injured passenger Khaled.
