Milap’s Indika Festival returns to Liverpool this November for the first time since 2018.
The festival celebrates the subcontinent’s rich heritage through rhythms, colours and stories of India to the flavours of its cuisine with creativity and diversity showcased throughout. The expanded programme boats contemporary Indian music, dance, visual arts, film, poetry, talks and participatory activities.
Indika is housed across multiple venues including St George’s Hall, the Music Room at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, the Tung Auditorium and many more to be announced soon.

Across 12 days there will be performances from an array of artists which will be announced in July. In the past, there have been performances from artists such as Pandit Birju Maharaj, Rakesh Chaurasia, Aditi Mangaldas, Lalgudi GJR Krishnan, Jayanthi Kumaresh, Priyadarsini Govind, Shashank, Rama Vaidyanathan, Mythili Prakash and Patri Satish Kumar, with more to be announced.
Alok Nayak, Milap’s CEO & artistic director, said: “Indika Festival, back in Liverpool for the first time since 2018, will take place over 12 days and at several of Liverpool’s best venues. It promises to be an experience like no other, and we want it to be an open, welcoming festival for everyone.
“The programme is also more ambitious than ever, with a series of events across the Liverpool City Region that everyone can enjoy, leading up to a core event programme in the Liverpool City Centre. We can’t wait to share Indika festival with the people of Liverpool, and hope it soon becomes an international highlight for Indian arts around the world.”
