Albury-Wodonga impress at country soccer Champs

Albury-Wodonga capped off an impressive weekend at Ballarat by claiming four of the seven available trophies, and narrowly missing out on a fifth title after going down to Sunraysia in the Under-18 Boys decider.

Albury-Wodonga defeated homeside Ballarat 2-0 in the boys Under-14 decider, before backing it up winning 1-0 in a thriller against Sunraysia in the Under-15s.

At Trekardo Park their Under-14 girls defeated Bendigo 2-0, while their Under-16s showed plenty of fight to topple Bendigo in a penalty shoot-out thriller.

With both sides locked at 0-0 after extra time, it was several clutch saves which helped them survive 3-2 in the shootout.

In the only decider that Albury-Wodonga lost on Monday, their Under-18s side was put to the sword by an undefeated Sunraysia outfit 5-0.

It was a great way for Sunraysia to cap off a dominant Championships in which they had only conceded one goal all tournament.

In the Under-16 boys decider Bendigo withstood an early red card to topple reigning champions Geelong 2-1.
