Sydney FC and prolific English striker Adam Le Fondre will part ways after a phenomenal five years together in which the marksman shot the Sky Blues to two Championships, a Premiership and three consecutive Grand Finals.
Le Fondre leaves the club sitting second on Sydney FC’s all-time goal-scorers list with 73 goals in 128 games, and only ten behind club legend Alex Brosque (83 in 267 games).
He is the joint most prolific A-League goal-scorer in Sydney FC history with a goals per game ratio of 0.59.
“Adam has been an unbelievable signing for Sydney FC and will be remembered as one of the club’s greatest strikers,” said Head Coach Steve Corica.
“He was one of my first signings as Head Coach and he has never let me or this club down.
“His ability to score goals whatever the conditions is invaluable and he will continue to do that wherever he plays.
“On behalf of the club, we thank him immensely for everything he has done for Sydney FC both on and off the park.
“We wish him and his family all the best.”
Le Fondre has won the club’s Golden Boot award in each of his four full seasons in Sky Blue and was twice runner-up in the A-League Golden Boot standings.
“My time with Sydney FC has been fantastic, it has been a joy to work with every player and member of staff and to play in front of our fabulous Members and fans,” said Le Fondre.
“I would have loved to have stayed and gone on to break Brosquey’s goalscoring record at Sydney FC however understand the club wants to make a change.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played here and to have been so successful and I look forward to a new challenge in my career.”
The former Premier League star joined Sydney FC in August 2018.
He has twice been named in the PFA Team Of The Year in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
