Irene Shadle, 78, of Tower City, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 10, 2023, at Heritage Mill Personal Care Home, Tower City.
Born in Sugar Notch, April 9, 1945, a daughter of the late Harry and Leona Miller. Irene was a graduate of Levittown High School, and she continued her education at beauty school, where she became a licensed beautician.
Irene had been employed by Bell Telephone, now Verzion. She last worked in the office at Koppy’s Propane, Williamstown.
She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Chapel, Tower City, the Catholic Women’s Club, the Porter Tower Lions Club, and the Tower City Moose Lodge.
She enjoyed crafts, cross-stitch, and sewing. Irene took great pride in her flower garden.
Surviving are her husband, Stewart W. Shadle; a son, Stewart Shadle (Kamini), Downingtown; a daughter, Missy Fox (Kevin), Boothwyn; two grandchildren Kelsey and Kevin Fox Jr.; three great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren.
Religious services will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home with Rev. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, Orwin. Visitation will be held from 10-11 at the chapel. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at St. Peter’s UCC Church, Orwin following the committal service.

Mary Elizabeth Richards, 86 of Ashland passed away Saturday evening at Providence Place-Pine Grove.
She was born on May 27, 1937 in Ashland and was the daughter of the late Mary (Pauly) and Joseph Mehlbaum.
Mary attended Butler Township Schools.
She was of the Protestant faith and was a member of Zion’s Reformed UCC in Ashland.
Mary was the wife of the late Earl Richards who passed away in 2010.
Early on she worked for Goldy Seltzer’s TV & Appliance. Later she along with her husband Earl owned and operated Richards Gas Station-Ashland and Richards Bus Co. until retirement.
Mary was a member of Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 424 in Orwigsburg.
Her favorite pastimes were doing puzzles, animals, and doing work on her farm.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother Joseph Mehlbaum.
She is survived by; son Glenn “Butch” J. Weinrich (Roseann), Ashland; brother Bob Mehlbaum, Willow Grove; sister Christine McGeehan (Neil), Horsham; 3 grandsons Nicholas Weinrich, Lehighton; Glenn (Colleen) Weinrich, Clinton Corners NY; Jake Weinrich, Gordon; 4 great grandchildren Rowan, Sullivan, Odin & Fiona; several nieces and nephews.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 14th from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM at Zion’s Reformed UCC, 2400 Centre St, Ashland PA 17921. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church with Pastor Dean Luther officiating. Burial with will follow services at Christ Church Cemetery-Fountain Springs.
