Out there… The Greenwich Parade of Champions takes place Sunday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the Town Hall and make its way down Field Point Road to West Elm Street to Greenwich Avenue to Havemeyer Park where there will be food trucks. The parade was established by former First Selectman Peter Tesei four years ago, but was abruptly canceled after not enough athletes could attend. It is finally taking place, with a total of 15 teams being honored for their achievements.
Scene… NBA star and three-time Olympic gold medalist Carmelo Anthony was seen having lunch at The Granola Bar in Rye, N.Y. on Monday.
Scene… At a reception Wednesday night, the Greenwich Historical Society formally announced Greenwich scholastic and club coaches who have been nominated to receive awards for excellence in influencing the lives of student athletes. The Sports Coach Awards will be presented at the Historical Society’s annual History in the Making Award Dinner on Oct. 12 by Olympic Hall of Famer and Greenwich resident Donna de Varona.
The honorees are Nick Cavataro of Greenwich YWCA; Pat Coleman of Greenwich Youth Lacrosse; Sarah Hill of Sacred Heart Greenwich; Katie Johnson of Greenwich Academy; Steve Lapham of Greenwich High School; Terry Lowe of Greenwich High School; Bill Smith of Greenwich Youth Water Polo and Jim Stephens of Brunswick School.
In addition, the Historical Society Board selected two coaches for Lifetime Achievement Awards — Jack Jepson from Greenwich Country Day School and Angela Tammaro from Greenwich Academy.
The History in Making event, which takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Belle Haven Club, will also honor Greenwich resident Allan Houston in recognition of his philanthropic contributions to Greenwich and beyond. Houston is the New York Knicks vice president of player leadership and development, and all-around powerhouse in the sports industry. He is also a two-time NBA all-star with a 12-year playing tenure with the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks and was a member of the gold-medal winning U.S. Men’s Basketball team at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Out there…The Irish Tenors will perform with The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra at the Wall Street Theater’s second annual gala on June 17. Out there…The Greenwich Library is featuring Friends Friday Film “Summer of Soul” at 7 p.m. June 16 in the Berkley Theater. The film covers the Harlem Cultural Festival, a celebration of African American music, culture, and unity attended by over 300,000 people the same year as Woodstock. The film features interviews and newly resurfaced footage of the event including performances by Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King and others. Scene… WWE wrestling star Ronda Rousey was seen at Pop’s Family Restaurant in Milford last Sunday morning before the WWE Monday Night Raw Showdown at Hartfords XL Center.
Out there… Seamore’s, the New York City-based sustainable seafood restaurant opened at 110 Heights Road in Darien on Friday. Restaurateur Jay Wainwright and chef Shannon Sturz, formerly of The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges, partnered to curate a menu that reflects local flavors and supports the local fisheries.
