Neighbours in Nottingham say they are worried after the body of an elderly man was found at a home in their street, which prompted a murder investigation. Police found the 74 year old inside a property in Gladstone Street, Forest Fields, after concerns were raised about his welfare shortly before 8pm on Wednesday, June 7.
Officers said he had died of stab wounds and arrested three people in connection with his death. Residents who spoke to Nottinghamshire Live in the area said they did not know the victim but would sometimes see him standing at the front of his house.
“Anytime I was passing I would see him smoking at the front door. He sometimes said hello,” said John Ofori, who lives in Gladstone Street. A woman who wished to remain anonymous added: “He used to say hello when I walked past, he always used to stand in his doorway chatting to people.

“He was a very nice guy.” Neighbours also raised concerns about crime in the area, with the incident coming just weeks after four people were arrested following a knife fight in the adjoining Foxhall Road. “It worries me because of the area, we have children here,” said Mr Ofori.
“It’s worrying. We don’t know what area we live in. Since I came here I’ve never experienced something like this.”
Another dad, who did not wish to be named, added: “It’s terrible isn’t it? Just two weeks ago there were people fighting in the street. I’ve got two kids.”
Hassan Lukman, 37, said: “I have been here for months and not observed much, but lately things have been happening quite frequently. But I don’t know what the reason is.”
Agnieszca Klos, 40, added: “It’s quite a safe neighbourhood and I’ve lived here for years. I’ve not noticed many things like this happen. I’d say it’s quite safe, but maybe because I keep myself away.
A 58-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 53-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Clare Dean, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are still at the early stages of our investigation, but it is now clear that this man died as a result of multiple stab wounds. Three people are now in custody as a team of detectives work to understand what happened to him and who was responsible for his death.
“We believe this man may have been dead for some time before his body was found, and would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in this area towards the end of May. As our investigations continue over the coming days, our thoughts will remain with this man’s family at what we know will be an extremely difficult time.”
