Over the next three months, the company will carry out about $8 million in infrastructure repairs and upgrades across its irrigation network.
The various scheduled activity will include regulator and culvert remediation works, channel desilting and upgrades to bridges and road crossings.
CEO Ron McCalman said Murray Irrigation’s winter works program is critical to ensuring its water delivery service operates smoothly and efficiently throughout the year.
With the works set to generate an increase in heavy machinery activity and vehicle movements across the company’s service, particularly near channels and properties where works are planned, safety remains a key focus for the business.
“Murray Irrigation is committed to the safety, health and wellbeing of our staff, contractors, customers and the broader community,” Mr McCalman said.
“Performing our winter works safely is our highest aim.
“With this in mind, we would ask members of the public to please try to avoid sites where we have teams working, keep a look out for safety signage and adhere to any changed road conditions, especially during foggy, wet, or rainy conditions.”
