The novel delves into the process of creating a film from its conception to its release, and draws on Hanks’ own experiences in the movie business to illuminate the entire process of making a movie.
TOM HANKS DISSES HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITIES IN HIS DEBUT NOVEL
Tom Hanks has now debuted as an author. His novel is titled The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece and it is inspired by his own screen career.
He narrated a few examples, one of which described how he occasionally watched his old films on TV and assessed his own performance. According to aceshowbiz.com, the 66-year-old actor claimed he won’t let any unfavourable reviews get to him. In an interview with BBC, the veteran movie star says he has become ‘stronger when it comes down to really being torn apart’.
In his novel, Hanks refers to film stars who are ‘cry-babies, psychological train-wrecks, on-the-wagon alcoholics (and) off-the-wagon addicts’.
In the same interview, he also mentioned that his ‘day job as a movie star’ meant he can ‘handle’ any criticism. Tom Hanks said that he unfazed by reviews and the audience’s critical response.
