The award-winning Club Menangle KARI J C Caffyn Indigenous Drivers Series returns for 2023 with up to seven harness racing heats to be conducted across New South Wales
Launched back in 2010, the series, which was originally held as a stand-alone invitational event, has proven to be a winner across the board and is now a prominent fixture on the New South Wales Harness Racing calendar.
In 2023 with support from participating Clubs, the KARI J C Caffyn Indigenous Drivers Series will hold up to seven penalty-free heats, with the final of the series to carry prize money of $25,000 to be contested on the same race night as the inaugural $2.1 million The TAB Eureka on Saturday, 2 September at Club Menangle.
Club Menangle wishes to extend our thanks to Harness Racing NSW for their continued support of the KARI J C Caffyn Plate, which will see the final of this year’s series run on the same race program as the world’s richest harness race.
The first two heats will be conducted on Tuesday, 18 July at Young, before the series moves to Parkes for two heats on Friday, 4 August, with the next two heats to take place at Newcastle on Friday, 11 August. Race conditions for all heats will be available via the Meeting Calendar on the harness.org.au website.
Winning drivers from each of the heats conducted at Young, Parkes and Newcastle receive an invitation to contest the KARI J C Caffyn Plate at Club Menangle. The remaining drivers will be selected from drivers that participated in heats as per the points score previously used and the 2022 winner McKayler Barnes who receives an automatic invitation.
All drivers are to contact David Wonson via email at [email protected] to outline their availability by Monday, 19 June 2023.
