Travel information including road closures has been announced ahead of the Muse concert at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes later this month.
The British rock band will perform at the Bowl on Sunday June 25th as part of the European leg of their Will of the People World Tour.
Doors to the venue will open at 4:30pm. Although full stage times are yet to be officially announced, ticket seller Eventim is reporting there is a venue curfew of 10:30pm in place. Full stage times will be confirmed closer to show day.
Brighton-based rock band Royal Blood and Mexican act The Warning will provide support slots.
The show will be the first to take place at the National Bowl music venue since the Electric Daisy Carnival in 2016.
Due to the high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic expected, road closures, diversions, temporary speed restrictions and waiting restrictions will be in place around the site’s immediate area to facilitate safe access and departure of patrons to the event and to mitigate delays.
Closures will affect Watling Street, Grafton Street and Chaffron Way at times around the show between 12pm on June 25th and 2am the following morning, with yellow signs having recently been placed on areas of each road that is to be closed on show day.
Car parks are being offered, with ticket vendors GigsandTours and SeeTickets selling spaces for cars and minibuses priced at £27.50 for individual cars when booking fees are added, as well as alternative tariffs for coaches. These car parks will be on grass and will be open between 10am on Sunday June 25 and 2am the following morning, and will be guided by sign-posts saying “Concert at MK Bowl Parking”.
The designated accessible car park is identified with the blue badge symbol, while those needing coach parking can do so by following signs with the bus symbol.
The site will not offer overnight car-parking beyond the 2am curfew, with vehicles left after this time to be removed at the owner’s expense, while the site will not have EV charging points for electric cars available.
Some car parking may be available in official sites on the day, but these will increase in purchase cost on the day and any spaces will be subject to availability.
Additional paid parking is available in Central Milton Keynes, with the closest located near to Milton Keynes Central Railway Station. Patrons can walk from the station to the venue via the pedestrian cycleway Redway system “Leisure Route 51”. This is a 25-30 minute signposted walk lasting just over one mile to the venue.
‘No Waiting’ restrictions will be in place on roadways surrounding the venue with no drop offs will be permitted. An official pre-show drop off facility is located on Chesney Wold which will be subject to a one-way system with entry from Summerston Road. At 21:00hrs this zone will be closed and signage will redirect vehicles to Central Milton Keynes, with organisers advising pick up is arranged for the city centre post-show. These restrictions also apply to taxi and private hire vehicles.
For public transport options, no direct local Milton Keynes bus service will be in operation serving the National Bowl on show day. A number of services run to Station Square adjacent to Milton Keynes Central railway station, from which people can follow the Leisure Route 51.
Direct coaches are running to Milton Keynes from Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Coventry, Leicester, London, Norwich, Nottingham, Oxford, Southampton and Winchester, with these services operated by the Big Green Coach and booking available on their website.
For the trains, additional carriages will be added to the regular services from Milton Keynes Central to London Euston operated by London Northwestern at 23:18 and 23:43, with an additional late-night service to be run after the 23:43 departure. Specific timings will be confirmed in due course.
Patrons travelling by rail are asked to bear in mind that the return journey to the rail station may take longer due to the number of concertgoers exiting the venue at the same time. They are also asked to note that it is their responsibility to allow enough time to make the necessary rail connections when leaving the venue, and that due to other events taking place on the same weekend it is also advisable to allow plenty of time for your outward journey from London.
