First Dates barman Merlin Griffiths has shared the incredible news that he has been given the ‘all clear for now’ after receiving results of a CT scan one year after surgery for bowel cancer.
In September 2021, the 48-year-old was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer and now, after two years of treatment, his results show no sign of the cancer reccurring.
Sharing the news on social media, the bartender who rose to fame on the Channel 4 dating show wrote alongside an image of the correspondence he’d received from the medical team: “Final Year 1 scan results are in, and it’s ALL CLEAR for now. Nice. Thank you #NHS #bowelcancerawareness”

This news update comes just a few months after he shared the results of his one year colonoscopy check up, in which he was given cancer clear test results and weeks after he appeared on Lorraine as part of her ‘No Butts’ campaign. The bartender went on the show and urged people to feel comfortable and confident when speaking up to doctors when they feel something isn’t quite right.
He wrote on Instagram with a clip from the show: ” Be cool with talking frankly, and in detail about any of the symptoms of #BowelCancer with your GP or other medical professionals. Early detection saves lives. X”
