Morphettville horse racing tips
—
Race 1. (12:02) Adelaide Galvanising C2 (1000m)
#4 – Walk Like an Angel @ $3.10
Walk Like an Angel ran second on debut at Murray Bridge and she won’t take long to win.
The two-year-old filly by Impending was only a length behind the winner, so she will only improve with that experience under her belt.
We’re happy with the $3.10 available.
Race 2. (12:37) Thomas Farms BM86 (1250m)
#3 – Metro Legend @ $2.80
Metro Legend has yet to win from five starts on the track, but he handled the heavy track when second last start.
The five-year-old son of Redoute’s Choice owns a win and a placing from three starts on a heavy track, so he gets conditions to suit.
Dropping to 53kg is another positive.
Race 3. (13:12) Skycity C1 Handicap (1300m)
#2 – Cold Case @ $6
Cold Case looked good when breaking maidens, and although he hasn’t won since, he’s not far off a victory.
The three-year-old son of Star Witness has yet to run in heavy conditions, but he should be able to handle some moisture.
Punters get each-way odds to enjoy.
Race 4. (13:47) The Fotobase Group BM76 (1400m)
#3 – Wild Imagination @ $3.60
Wild Imagination is a model of consistency with five wins and nine placings from 21 starts, including two placings on the track.
The five-year-old mare is better suited to racing on good tracks, but we’re happy to back her in the heavy stuff as well.
Most of the early money has come for the favourite.
Race 5. (14:22) Peter Elberg Funerals BM70 (1250m)
#1 – Klabel @ $3.40
Klabel hasn’t been the most consistent this season but he comes off a win at Murray Bridge, so we’re sticking with him.
The Jolly-trained son of Vadamos is bred to handle wet tracks, and two of his three career wins have come on wet tracks.
We expect his odds to firm throughout the week.
Race 6. (14:57) Fleurieu Milk Company BM62 (1400m)
#2 – Another Ponzi @ $2.45
It’s not a scheme for Another Ponzi, who comes off consecutive wins and he’s the favourite to win again.
The three-year-old son of Charm Spirit won by 2.3 lengths last start and that should be a solid form guide.
He jumps from a tricky draw but he’s the one to beat.
Race 7. (15:32) Grand Syndicates SA BM80 (2250m)
#1 – Golden Crusader @ $2.80
Golden Crusader owns four wins and four placings from 14 starts, and all four wins have come in the wet.
The Price/Kent-trained runner comes from Melbourne with good form, including a solid sixth at Flemington behind Mimi’s Award.
This race looks his to lose.
Race 8. (16:12) Grand Syndicates BM68 (1550m)
#4 – Maracourt @ $5
Maracourt capped off solid form with a win at Casterton, and although not a great form guide, it’s a win on the board.
The four-year-old owns four wins from 11 starts, so he has been tough to beat throughout his career.
We’re happy to include him in selections at each-way odds.
Race 9. (16:50) The Junction BM62 (1000m)
#7 – Midnight Rush @ $5
Midnight Rush won on debut and his efforts since haven’t been too bad, so he’s worth backing.
The three-year-old son of Sooboog ran fourth at Gawler last start and he has been primed with a trial placing at Murray Bridge.
Barrier 14 isn’t ideal but stick with him.
