Rain or shine, is there anything better than diving into a big ol’ bowl of noodles?
Here are our top picks for Perth’s best phở.
Thanh Dat Vietnamese Noodle House
It’s hard to resist the magnetic pull of the many amazing Vietnamese restaurants along William Street, but if you can stay strong, you will be richly rewarded with a visit to Thanh Dat. One of the newer spots, these guys specialise in beef short rib phở – but their “Pho the Lot”, loaded with marrow, brisket, short rib, tendon and more is having us dream of beef… And while their bone broth is practically medicinal, we’ve got to start the night right with some crispy, moreish chả giò rế.
425 William St, Northbridge
Trang’s Cafe and Noodle House
Bowls of noodle soup you could almost dive straight into? Check. Warm tea and peanuts upon entry? Check. Succulent pork chops? Check. Crazy low prices? Check! This place really ticks all the boxes, and the bustling, busy crowd that travels there from all over Perth can attest to that.
Marangaroo Shopping Centre, 11/70 Marangaroo Drive, Girrawheen
Vietnamese Hot Food
The low-key surrounds of the Wanneroo Markets add a certain charm to this aromatic bowl of phở! Open from 8AM, Friday to Sunday, Vietnamese Hot Food is one of the few places you can enjoy phở for breakfast – the most traditional time to enjoy it, especially when paired with a Vietnamese iced coffee.

Pho 447 Asian Kitchen
After relocating from Dao Vien in Northbridge, Floreat’s teeny-tiny Pho 447 still packs a punch. We’re fans of all of their noodle soups, including (controversially?) their laksa, but you’ve gotta go for their phở at least once. Choose from beef, beef and meatballs or chicken, and be prepared to fight the locals for a table.
1/447 Cambridge Street, Floreat
Roll Vs Bowl
One of our favourite cheap eats, Roll Vs Bowl’s banh mi and phở are a bargain hunter’s dream. Their fresh, delicately flavoured pho sets you back less than $11, and with just a few options available, you won’t have to labour too long over your order – giving you all the more time to slurp up your soup.

Tra Vinh
If you’ve got even a casual interest in Vietnamese food, you’ve surely hit up Tra Vinh for a feed. This Highgate hotspot (plus their Northbridge and Girrawheen locations) is a favourite for noodle lovers, with plenty of varieties of phở, hu tieu, and other noodle soups available to sate you hunger, no matter your tastes.

Sunshine Cafe
This low-key Mount Lawley lunch bar has been a phở and bánh mì favourite of locals for years. Tucked away on Beaufort Street in between Walcott Street and Queens Crescent, and with no online presence to speak of, Sunshine is about as unassuming as it comes – but their flavourful menu has meant a loyal following of devotees. Generous sizes at reasonable prices make it an all round hit.
683A Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley
Phong Dinh Noodle House
Morley noodle house Phong Dinh is matched in the tastiness of its authentic Vietnamese fare only by the warmth of its service. Consistently friendly, fast and fresh, all reasonably priced… this unpretentious spot will impress even the pickiest of noodle lovers. What’s not to love?
2/4 Progress Street, Morley
Ohye’s Kitchen
Count this as another reason to move to North Perth: the arrival of Ohye’s Kitchen to Walcott Street. While we find it incredibly difficult to look past a crispy yellow pancake, their classic phở with a positively restorative beef broth is hard to go past when the weather cools.
265 Walcott Street, North Perth
Pho Hung Highclere BMT
In a stellar example of our cultural melting pot, Pho Hung is one part fish and chip shop, one part Vietnamese lunch bar – and doing both excellently. Stop by for lunch and treat yourself to an expanding selection of bánh mì, Vietnamese coffee and drinks, and of course, a hearty bowl of phở.
50 Highclere Boulevard, Marangaroo
