Round 14 saw two quintessential performances from these two outfits. The Titans let yet another lead slip away, while the Tigers – in true Wests fashion – invented a new way to lose.
This matchup feels almost like two drunks fighting at the pub. It looks a tough sell, but most likely it’s even tougher to look away.

The Titans get to host consecutive games at Cbus, the second time Gold Coast has done that this year. They will be out to write the wrongs of last week, which was another classic second half fade.
Both of these sides have displayed some great footy at times this year, but only in teasing patches.
THE TEAM OF TWO HALVES
The Titans led by six at halftime against the Rabbits last Saturday, before conceding five second half tries. Removing every second half of the NRL season, the Titans sit on top of that hypothetical ladder.
So there’s a case to be made that at the very least, they have an opportunity to bounce back and put Round 14 behind them quickly. But the flip side is that only two teams have claimed wins off a five-day turnaround this entire year so far.

Gold Coast’s opponent, the Tigers, don’t possess the fire power they encountered against Souths last week. But the mental scarring is real, in terms of the group defending first half leads.
A head injury has ruled out David Fifita, but AJ Brimson’s inclusion replaces the lost star power.
The home side also welcomes back Kieran Foran, who was rested last weekend. It’s a boost, to be sure, but they still scored 28 points five days ago. Defence is what’s letting them down; they’ve only conceded under 18 points twice this year and not since April has it held up in a game.

TIGERS SHOWING THEIR REAL STRIPES
The Tigers had last Friday’s game lost, then won, but somehow still went down to Canberra in a way only they can.
The extra day to recover from Round 14 should work in the visitors’ favour and may cancel out Gold Coast’s home advantage.
Wests have lost their last four against the Titans by the 1-12 margin.
Coach Tim Sheens has a similar side to last week, with Api Koroisau fighting through a busy period to his season and David Nofoaluma having scored a try in eight of his last 11 games against Wests.

FIRST TRY SCORER
While the Titans are more likely to score the opening try, young Tigers fullback Jahream Bula represents excellent value, coming off back-to-back scoring games.
It’s been a very impressive first six weeks in the top grade; his workrate is really promising, as is the class and polish in the opposition half.
WHO WINS?
Despite three straight losses, Gold Coast has still won those four straight games over Wests and ultimately, the Titans have been a bit better more often this season and are 3-2 against the line at home.
