Ashley Morgan is in the best touch of his career, yet the good times only threaten to get bigger for one of country NSW’s leading jockeys.
The New England-based hoop has always had a “have saddle, will travel” attitude, but these days the winners are coming to him.
Now, he’s eying off what potentially could be a career-high return at Tuesday’s feature Armidale meeting.
Riding in every direction imaginable out from his Tamworth base, Morgan is set to ride the vast majority of winners on Armidale’s seven-race card, especially in combination with the club’s leading trainer Stirling Osland.
Fresh off a strong treble at Sunday’s Muswellbrook meeting, including Mon Piere in the feature Aberdeen Cup, Morgan is the epitome of perseverance and desire winning out.
In fact, along with rival non-metro jockey Aaron Bullock, Morgan has become the “triple king” over the past month.
In the space of seven days, he set a country record by claiming three separate winning trebles.
This time last week at Port Macquarie, Morgan saluted on Bubbles for Me and Astral Thoughts for the Mark Minervini stable, as well as Sandpiper for Nathan Doyle.
Then on Friday at Dubbo, he booted home three more winners for trainers Darren Hyde, Mack Griffith and Brett Cavanough before the latest treble at Muswellbrook. And the bookings naturally just keep coming.
