During the first leg of the CAF Champions League final, Egypt’s Al Ahly dominated the field, defeating Wydad Casablanca with a score of 2-1. Just before the break, South African winger, Percy Tau scored the first goal followed by Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ Abdel-Moneam who scored the second goal at the one-hour mark. During that same match, Saifeddine Bouhra scored one goal for Morocco’s Wydad.
To get to the finals, Al Ahly first defeated Raja Casablanca in the quarter-finals followed by Esperance Tunis in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca qualified for the finals for the second consecutive year after a 2-2 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Up next, Egypt’s Al Ahly and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca will go head to head once again during the second leg of the final at Morocco’s Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca on June 11. It will be the match that will determine the winner of the entire tournament.
