The council is pleased to announce the sale of a small garage site in St Albans Road, to enable Leap24 UK, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, to install public charging points
Leap24 UK specialises in serving larger vehicles such as trucks, vans, taxis, as well as ordinary passenger vehicles. The new facility, which will feature five charging bays, aims to promote sustainable transportation and cater to the increasing demand for EV charging facilities in the area.
With a focus on fostering the adoption of electric mobility, Leap24 UK plans to establish an advanced electric vehicle charging station at this location within six to eight months. The upcoming EV charging station will provide ultra-rapid charge points, enabling efficient charging for a range of vehicles. This cutting-edge technology will enhance the convenience and accessibility of EV charging for both residents and visitors of Watford.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, expressed enthusiasm for this new development, stating, “We are delighted to work with Leap24 UK to bring a state-of-the-art electric vehicle charging station to our community. This initiative aligns with our commitment to sustainability and green transport. This will help more residents and businesses switch to electric vehicles, contributing to a cleaner and greener future.”

Leap24 Founder, Pelle Schlichting, also shared his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “Watford is a key location for expanding our EV charging infrastructure, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with Watford Borough Council. Our advanced ultra-rapid charge points will cater to a diverse range of vehicles, ensuring that all drivers, including those of larger vehicles like trucks and vans, have convenient access to reliable charging facilities.”
The new charging points mark another significant step forward in the electrification of transportation in the region. By providing an efficient and accessible charging network, this initiative supports the growth of the EV market, reduces carbon emissions, and promotes sustainable practices.
As the world continues to tackle climate change, initiatives like electric vehicle charging points will play an increasingly important role in building sustainable communities.
