There is a new chair at the helm of the Mount Gambier New Years Eve Committee and he is calling for interested community members to help plan the city’s next festival.
Scott Turner said he would take on the role as previous chair Steeve Toope decided to take a back seat to the planning.
Mr Turner thanked Mr Toope for his commitment to the festival, and said he was looking forward to reinvigorating the event.
To ensure the event carries on its 11 year run Mr Turner said he hoped a few people would jump on board and join the committee.
“It is important that community events be maintained and continue,” he said.
“They are part of the fabric of the community and they play a significant role in allowing the community to celebrate.”
Mr Turner said there would be a meeting, which interested community members could come along to, on Thursday, June 15, at 7pm at the Mount Gambier RSL.
“We wish to see as many interested people as possible and all will be welcomed,” he said.
