Al ahly’s squad for the upcoming caf Champions League Final against Wydad Casablanca witnessed the absence of the team’s skipper Mohamed El-Shennawy.
Al Ahly are set to face Wydad Casablanca in the 2023 CAF Champions League final, with the first-leg taking place on June 4 in Cairo, before they meet again a week later in Casablanca.
The Reds suffered a goalkeeping crisis ahead of the game, which saw first-choice Mohamed El-Shennawy pick up an injury alongside backup option Ali Lotfi, and fourth-choice Hamza Alaa.
Despite obtaining the medical green light for Mohamed El Shennawy to participate, the technical staff preferred not to risk with the player.
However, Al Ahly’s list witnessed the return of the injured backup option Ali Lotfi, and the team’s midfielder Hamdi Fathi.
On the other hand, there are another nine players excluded from the list for technical reasons, which are: Ayman Ashraf – Ramy Rabia – Mohamad Fakhri – Raafat Khalil – Mohamad Ashraf – Karim Al-Dabis – Ahmed Nabil Kouka – Bruno Savio – Shady Hussein.
The Red Devils made their way into the CAF Champions League final after a 3-0 win against Esperance in the first leg in Rades, and 1-0 at home in the second leg.
