A man has been charged after he allegedly ran over his two friends in a ute in a tragic double fatality in regional NSW.
Nathan Bernhard, 27, was trying to leave his friend’s house on Condie Cres, North Nowra, about 7pm on Wednesday just before kick-off of the State of Origin match they were all watching together.

It’s understood Bernhard was planning on driving just a kilometre down the road when his two friends – Bobby Kelsall, 36, and Stephen Lippis, 41 – tried to stop him.
The two men were then allegedly struck by the ute and critically injured in the incident.
Horrified neighbours rushed to the scene and performed CPR on the injured duo until paramedics arrived.
“It wasn’t a nice scene … yeah not something you see every day, because it’s a nice quiet street here,” neighbour Joanne Campbell told 7NEWS.
Despite bystanders and paramedics’ best efforts, the two men died at the scene.
Bernhard was arrested and charged with a series of offences including dangerous driving occasioning death and driving with middle-range prescribed concentration of alcohol.
He appeared at Nowra Local Court on Thursday, where it was heard police allege he blew almost double the legal limit.
He was granted bail on the condition he does not occupy the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle or attempt to contact any prosecution witnesses.
He is expected to appear in court again on August 9.
