A new family-run cafe in Ocean Grove is prioritising putting local ingredients on the menu.
Husband and wife duo Ken Wall and Bridget McClure opened Twelve Seas cafe in the coastal town last month.
Ken, who has years of hospitality experience backing him into the new venture, said the cafe was the realisation of a longtime goal.
“This is something we’ve always wanted to do, but until now our kids were a little too young,” he said.
“But this opportunity came up at the end of last year and we jumped at the opportunity and put in an application.”
The pair have done a complete refit of the Sunset Strip storefront, and have been hard at work curating the new menu.
“We make Croffles, which are raw croissants cooked in a waffle iron,” he said.
“Those have been popular with all of the kids.”

Baking is done in-house as well, with Ms McLure whipping up biscuits, cakes, croissants and other sweet treats fresh every day.
“Everything is made in house and we’re using a lot of local suppliers,” he said.
Mr Wall said the pork-belly eggs Benedict and the avocado bowl had already proven themselves to be bestsellers.
“The response from the community has been great,” he said.
“We have lots of people coming back, and being close to the schools we try to cater to a lot of those families.”
The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch from 7.30am from Tuesday to Sunday.
