Rumours had been circulating on social media that the Waggon and Horses in Pimlico Road, Clitheroe, would be closing for good.
However, landlord Simon Forster has spoken out to dismiss any rumours that had been circulating saying the pub would be closing.
After he was diagnosed with cancer in December 2022, a manager, Karen Hamlin, was brought in to run the pub while Simon received his treatment.
Following his diagnosis, pub owner Thwaites gave him the option to leave the pub, after being approached by someone who had another vision for the building. but after discussion this was declined.
Simon said: “Thwaites approached me in a very supportive way and with my health in mind and gave me an option to consider.
“In no way did they demand or push their agenda and I didn’t feel pressured in any way but I have been engaged in discussions with them and in an effort to be transparent with my staff I shared with them what was happening.
“Regrettably then a picture has been painted that is factually incorrect and very much jumped the gun.”
Simon went on to say he will be staying at the pub and it will remain open with him remaining in situ as the landlord.
Simon added he has now finished his chemotherapy and will be taking the pub back over for the summer.
The statement added: “I have been so happy to see the outpouring of support for the pub.
“My vision to make the pub into a family and community centred space has been growing.
“We started up the live music nights, pool teams and have had some fantastic parties in there.
“I’m also happy people have been supporting the pub in recent weeks as the sun is starting to shine.
“It’s very encouraging to see everyone speak of their love of the pub and their wishes to keep it open and to support it.”
