An astounding $15,024.30 was raised in just one day at the Agri-Business Charity Golf Day held at the Narrabri golf course on Sunday, April 16.
The hard-working committee of the United Hospital Auxiliary of NSW Inc Narrabri branch were the grateful recipients of the donation from the agri-business group awarded on Friday, May 26.
“We were keen to hold a charity golf day,” said Delta Ag team member Gary Mahar.
“We approached Club Narrabri CEO Paul Gordon, and it was his suggestion to nominate the Narrabri branch of the UHA.
“The hospital kiosk has had it tough during the past few years with COVID resulting in no patrons and the cafe is still seeing the effects of the extended period of isolation.
“Our business group thought this was a great idea, as everyone – the whole community use the kiosk.
“The UHA ladies, all volunteers, are doing a great job in getting the café up and running again.”
The four-person ambrose charity venture attracted 30 teams with 120 players enjoying a fun-filled day of golf.
The donation amount included green fees paid on the day and the supply of raffle prizes, a 100 club, auction items and food served throughout the day, all of which raised a huge response from patrons of the event.
It also includes $1000 donated by the ‘Golf Club Bottle-Os’ collected from empty bottle returns at the Challenge recycling plant at ten cents a bottle.
Commonwealth Bank staff were on hand and offered their services selling raffle and 100 club tickets.
UHA ladies were kept busy serving the array of hot food throughout the day.
“We are extremely grateful for this generous venture and absolutely bowled over with the amount raised,” said president Tricia Hadley.
“We would like to thank the agri-business team and Paul Gordon for thinking of us.
“Local agriculture-based businesses also donated supplies towards raffle prizes and auction items, which were an invaluable addition to the day with an amazingly generous response from players.
“The kiosk is a necessary facility for our community, and it offers warmth and a place to relax when people are visiting their loved ones in hospital.
“We cannot thank the Narrabri community enough for rallying around with their support and generosity.”
