The Role
- Continuing, Part time – 17.5 hours per week
- Level 5 – $36,910 to $40,296 pa (plus 17% superannuation)

As the Technical Officer, you will be providing technical and laboratory support to the Faculty of Science and Health. Working as part of the Life and Health Sciences team, you will be providing a range of technical support such as maintaining facilities and equipment, conducting facility inductions and equipment training, maintaining inventories, contributing to work health and safety tasks, and providing technical advice and guidance within the research laboratories (including PC2 laboratories).
Experience working with fluorescent, confocal or scanning electron microscopes, and experience with biotechnology equipment and techniques would be highly regarded.
A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is an essential requirement of this position.
To be successful you will have:
- A relevant degree in Science, Medical Laboratory Science or related discipline; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through other combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in Physical Containment Level 2 laboratories and working to Australian Standard 2243:3 – 2022.
- Experience contributing to risk management systems, including developing risk assessments, adhering to WHS procedures and maintaining accurate records.
- Demonstrated experience in the safe use, handling and disposal of hazardous substances and biological materials.
