A 26-year-old man has died after becoming ‘separated’ from his jet ski in the sea at Worthing beach on Monday (May 29). The man was out at sea shortly before 6pm when the incident occurred, with a number of emergency services racing to the scene, including an air ambulance.
The man was recovered from the water and taken to hospital where he died later that evening. His next of kin have been informed and it has been confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
At the scene, the RNLI, Coastguard, Sussex Police and paramedics attended. The jet ski was also pictured being recovered from the water.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services responded to a report of a medical incident in the sea at Worthing beach, shortly before 6pm on Monday, May 29. A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital, where sadly he was later declared deceased.
“His next of kin have been informed. There were no suspicious circumstances. A report will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard, Sussex Police, South East Ambulance Service and an air ambulance responded to reports of a man separated from his jet ski off Goring-by-Sea on 29 May. At around 6pm a Coastguard Recue Team from Littlehampton and a lifeboat from Littlehampton RNLI were sent to the scene.”
The death came just a day after a 70-year-old man died after a medical incident in the sea at Worthing (May 28). He was pronounced dead at the scene.
