ASHEVILLE – The listing for two West Asheville properties outs the future of a popular doughnut shop and entertainment facility into question.
The commercial sites at 956 Patton Ave. and 960 Patton Ave. have been listed for sale by Whitney Commercial Real Estate Services. The combined sale is posted at $5.9 million for the two parcels that make up a 4.25-acre lot. The 960 Patton Ave. retail property is listed at $2 million for the 4,404-square-foot building.
Yet, it doesn’t mean the businesses at the addresses, Tropical Gardens Mini Golf and Krispy Kreme, are closing, according to commercial broker Jason Burk.
“The businesses both have leases in place so I expect them to stay open. The Sale of the real estate is very common with leased property,” Burk said in an email.
Krispy Kreme addressed the listing with the following statement via an email through spokesperson Cassie Williams:
“We continue to serve our loyal guests in the Asheville community and have no plans to close our 960 Patton Ave. shop. The building is for sale by the owner.”

Krispy Kreme’s lease expires on Oct. 31, and the company has an option to renew by Aug. 2.
The doughnut shop opened in Asheville in 1979, the spokesperson said.
Tropical Gardens Mini Golf owner/operator Mark Zimmerman said in an email that he is not planning to close or sell the business.
For more than 25 years, the local, family-owned recreational center has been in business and is open daily.
