A child is the victim of a shocking stabbing attack that has also left a man critically injured.
A Queensland primary school was put in lockdown after a teacher was allegedly stabbed by a student, with police reportedly tasering the child.
Paramedics and police were called to a unit block on Washington Ave in Riverwood in Sydney at 4pm on Wednesday after concern for welfare reports.
“Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command attended and found a three-year-old boy deceased inside the unit,” a police spokesperson said.
“Police also located a 45-year-old man with serious injuries; he was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital in a critical condition.
“Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Streams of police officers and ambulances have been spotted at the scene as crowds gather on the street.
Paramedics were seen rushing into the apartment.
Washington Ave remains blocked off as the police operation is in place. A police helicopter circled overhead.
Concerned locals were shocked by the incident.
“It’ a surprise actually, it’s kind of a senior citizen area,” one resident said.
As investigations are ongoing, police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
