Calling all wellness enthusiasts! Get ready to embark on a journey of self-care and rejuvenation because South Australia is taking the lead in the global wellness tourism trend. Introducing Wellness Tourism Unearthed, an exciting industry event aimed at supporting and nurturing the wellness tourism sector.
Katherine Droga, the mastermind behind Wellness Tourism Unearthed, Wellness Tourism Summit, and the renowned wellness travel brand and TV show Well Traveller, shares that regions like the Adelaide Hills have already made significant strides in this field with events like Wellness Wander and a wellness tourism destination strategy.
Now, it’s the Fleurieu Peninsula’s turn to embrace this flourishing industry.
“Fleurieu Peninsula Tourism will be hosting Wellness Tourism Unearthed next Monday and the region is primed for the wellness tourism boom in line with international research,” she said.
Wellness travel globally is worth $439 billion a year and is forecast to grow at more than 20% every year to 2025, supporting a growing demand for wellness tourism experiences in Australia.
“This trend had started pre-Covid, but the pandemic supercharged the sector once we started to value our health and wellbeing even more. Travellers are seeking to have more rounded holidays that include wellness sustainable tourism experiences that enhance their physical, mental and social wellbeing. These include everything from nature, paddock to plate, indigenous experiences through to amazing spas and retreats.
“Australia’s global ranking in the top 10 destinations in the world for wellness travel spend combined with our recent number one ranking as the most desirable destination for Wellness Travel makes it our time to shine,” Droga said.
The one-day industry event taking place at the Victor Harbor Convention Centre has 100 Wellness tourism operators attending from all over South Australia either looking to enhance their wellness offering or starting on their journey to tap into this growing global trend.
“Learnings and insights from successful businesses sharing their journey is one of the best ways for likeminded operators to enhance and perfect their offering. Our attendees will be immersed in the latest consumer wellness trends to inspire growth and collaboration in the booming sector, gaining tips on best practice to assist with entering the market or building on their existing wellness tourism platform,” she said.
The event program is diverse, with more than 20 experienced speakers sharing global insights and local best practice from businesses already succeeding in this space.
The program features topics such as; vineyards branching into wellness, Aboriginal healing and traditions, accommodation trailblazers, sustainability and food, wellness tourism trends, investing in wellness tourism, developing wellness experiences and it will also include a session with Glam Adelaide Editor in Chief and local influencer, Kelly Noble.
“I look forward to sharing my insights from an influencer and media perspective, to help local operators understand what lands and what doesn’t so they can be well armed to thrive in this space,” Noble said.
