Saracens defeated Sale Sharks 35-25 at Twickenham on Saturday to lift the Gallagher English Premiership, their first title since 2019.
Sarries, three-time winners of EPCR’s leading competition, overcame a fierce Sale side with 2017 EPCR Player of the Year Owen Farrell playing a key role.
The fly-half kicked a vital three penalties and two conversions to help his side lift the trophy, while a penalty try and scores from Max Malins, Elliot Daly and Ivan van Zyl proved enough to give the table-toppers the win.
Sale themselves crossed three times, with Akker van der Merwe, Tom Roebuck and Bevan Rodd all dotting down. They had been behind at half-time 20-13 but took the lead mid-way through the second half, only for Sarries to fight back with two late tries from Daly and Van Zyl.
Both teams are set take part in the Heineken Champions Cup next season, and will hope to make it all the way to the 2024 final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
