Sydney’s top apprentice Zac Lloyd has given his rivals another sniff at the title after being suspended again for careless riding at Randwick on Saturday.
Lloyd, who leads a competitive race for Sydney apprentice honours, has been suspended for careless riding seven times this season.
He sits in second place behind James McDonald in the Sydney jockeys premiership with 58 wins and holds a five-win advantage over rival apprentices, Dylan Gibbons and last year’s champion Tyler Schiller.
Lloyd returned from a Hawkesbury stand-alone Saturday suspension on Tuesday at Kembla and he was again suspended for careless riding.
The Kembla suspension commences on Sunday and runs until June 11.
On Saturday at Randwick, Lloyd incurred his third suspension in 18 rides, pleading guilty to causing interference to Sneaky Paige when crossing that runner near the 900m of the SCCF James Tedesco Outreach Program Handicap (1100m).
“It doesn’t give us any joy having to suspend you because we know you’re going to learn more riding than sitting on the sidelines,” chief steward Steve Railton told Lloyd.
“As you understand we have a role to play and it’s all about safety.
“I’m not going to lecture you because you have all the good people you need around you.
“You just need to be more careful.”
Stewards issued a seven meeting suspension which commences at the conclusion of the ban he incurred at Kembla.
Lloyd will be back in action on June 23 after spending 27 days on the sidelines.
