Tottenham Hotspur ‘keen’ on FC Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa
Portugal international Diogo Costa, who currently plays for FC Porto, is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur and other European giants, according to Record (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 23-year-old is on the radar of the North London side at the moment. However, the Lilywhites are not the only team looking to acquire the shot-stopper’s services ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also eyeing Costa. The Red Devils have been constantly linked with the promising goalkeeper’s signature. Apart from the Old Trafford side, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on him.
Costa spent most of his youth career at the Primeira Liga outfit. Then, the Portuguese got a break in Sergio Conceicao’s team last season. Since then, he has been the number one at the Dragoes.
In the current campaign, the shot-stopper has put in several eye-catching displays, especially in the Champions League. Throughout the group stages, the 23-year-old was in inspiring form.
However, Costa showed his lack of experience in between the sticks during the 2022 World Cup. The promising goalkeeper made a few glaring errors as Portugal were knocked out of the competition in the quarter-finals.
At Tottenham, Hugo Lloris has been the first choice for several years now. The 36-year-old signed for the North London side in the summer of 2012 and has been ever-present in the starting lineup ever since.
However, the French national’s age seems to have caught up to him over the last few seasons. The veteran goalkeeper has not been at his best for some time now. But as backup, we only have Fraser Forster in our ranks.

Therefore, we evidently need to find a successor for Lloris in the coming months. However, it remains to be seen whether Costa is the one who will replace the 36-year-old at Spurs.
