Former West Coast Eagle player Brad Sheppard has announced his engagement with nutritionist Ellen Taylor-Hawkins.
The couple took to Instagram on Saturday to announce the engagement with a snap of Sheppard proposing to the podcaster on one knee with the caption reading: “A forever kind of love.”
Family and friends of the couple have been quick to congratulate them on Instagram, with Sheppard’s sister Sophie writing: “Yay!!! Congratulations!! So happy for you both and so special to be up here to celebrate with you!! Can’t wait to have you as an ‘official’ sis bring on the wedding wooohooooooo!!”
Former Eagle player Mark Lecras also congratulated the couple and wrote: “Yeeeew congratulations guys!!”
The former AFL star has been social media official with Ellen since July 2020 when Sheppard shared a cute snap of homemade cupcakes with icing that spelt out “welcome home” after his return from the Gold Coast, with a mention to her Instagram account.
Sheppard was only 30 when he made the difficult decision to retire from the Eagles in 2021 after multiple concussions posed serious health risks.
He then moved up north of WA to live the “Broome lifestyle” with his now fiance.
Sheppard is currently working at a local car dealership and also as a Lifeline WA Ambassador.
The now Broome local made headlines back in 2019 after his split with Nine weather presenter Scherri-Lee Briggs, with the relationship ending after a Europe vacation during the AFL break.
The former Miss Universe Australia winner has since moved on and recently married another former Eagle, Daniel Venables, in an outdoor ceremony in Perth in March 2023.
