Ellis “Lonnie” Griffiths CLAREMONT, NH -Ellis “Lonnie” Griffiths, 75 of Zephyrhills, Florida, originally of Claremont, N.H. Passed away March 11, 2023, at the James A. Haley Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He was born on January 28, 1948, in a military hospital in Bermuda, B.W.I., the son of Harris and Jean Griffiths. He spent much of his childhood in different schools, both in Bermuda and USA. He spent 25 years in the military, including 4 years in the Navy. A tour off the coast of Vietnam on the battleship New Jersey, twenty plus years in the 744th Transportation Company, with time served during Desert Storm as the unit truckmaster. He will be remembered as a platoon sergeant, 1st Sergeant and Readiness NCO. He also worked at Reed’s Service Center, Tambrands, and IHS Nursing Home. Ellis enjoyed traveling, reading about Civil War history, doing home improvements and crossword puzzles. Ellis enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Joan, his sons Glenn and his wife, Sharyn, and Steven and his wife, Christine. He is also survived by his sister, Margy Griffiths and his three grandchildren, Jacob, Julia and Elijah Griffiths. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Roberta Rivard, and a nephew, Craig Williams. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stringer Funeral Home on June 3, 2023. Visiting hour held before service from 1 to 2PM. All are invited to attend a gathering at the Claremont Senior Center after the service. In lieu of flowers a donation to the VA Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program, James A.
