SCHENECTADY – Harbor Jam will return to Schenectady this summer with performances by Forever Seger – The Silver Bullet Experience – a tribute to Bob Seger, and Philadelphia Freedom – A Tribute to Elton John.
Organized by Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, the shows are set for Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 at the Mohawk Harbor Amphitheater. Each night’s entertainment kicks off at 6 p.m. with DJ Ketchup, followed by the headliner performance at 7:30 p.m. The July 30 concert will also be followed by a firework show.
Forever Seger pays tribute to Seger’s discography, from rock anthems “Hollywood Nights” and “Old Time Rock & Roll” and “Night Moves” to unforgettable ballads and chart-topping hits. The band performs tribute shows across the country.
Philadelphia Freedom is led by singer and pianist Doug Delescavage, who performs as Elton John, bringing hits like “Rocket Man,” “Bennie and the Jets,” “Crocodile Rock,” and many more to the stage.
In previous years, Harbor Jam has drawn thousands of people to Mohawk Harbor, with performances by the Lords of 52nd Street, Yellow Brick Road, John Waite and David Victor (formerly of Boston) and Shining Star, among other bands.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase and there are no age restrictions to attend Harbor Jam. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for seating.
Another popular Electric City event, Schenectady County SummerNight was also announced this week. The popular block party is set for Friday, July 14 and will feature live musical performances, games, food and a kids zone set up around Schenectady City Hall.
Organized by the Schenectady County Legislature, it’ll run from 5-10 p.m. on State Street between Broadway and Barret Street and the Jay Street Pedestrian Mall. The headlining act and full schedule of events have yet to be announced.
The block party started 18 years ago and draws around 20,000 people to downtown Schenectady for an evening of live music, food and family-friendly activities. In previous years, the event has hosted national acts Smash Mouth, Spin Doctors and Blues Traveler.
