As well as league points, the Celtic Shield is up for grabs on Sunday afternoon as the Crusaders make the long trek south to take on Cornwall.
After a testing opening to the campaign, Crusaders finally broke their duck with last weekend’s 42-14 triumph at Midlands Hurricanes.
Reflecting on that success, a delighted Forster told the Crusaders’ website: “I think there’s a few boys that really stood up today, put their hand up and, you know, proved me wrong in terms of team selection and stuff like that.
“So, real good.
“I think this is the first week we’ve actually had competition for places.
“There’s been people that’s missed out today that will feel hard done by, but we need that competitiveness in the group and we’ve finally had that come week seven.
“So, touch wood, this is just a springboard for what the fans are going to see moving forward.”
Not for the first time this season, Crusaders made an excellent start in their last run-out, but they managed to back it up to go 30 points ahead by half-time.
The returning Brad Billsborough grabbed 18 points, while Josh Lynch, Jake Burns, Rob Massam, Paul Nash and Owain Abel joined him on the scoresheet.
Forster admitted that the six-match winless streak to open the campaign had been tough on the Crusaders’ players.
“There’s been a monkey on our back for quite a while and it’s just good to finally get that off and probably the overriding feeling’s just relief,” he said.
“We know we’ve not been playing bad, you know.
“I think we’ve put out two poor performances, probably Rochdale and Oldham.
“Apart from that, we’ve actually been okay.
“But today was just a bit more of a complete performance.
“I think people watching the game, the scoreline probably wouldn’t reflect it with how much goalline ‘D’ (defence) we did, but the attitude of our boys, it was phenomenal.
“The fact that we actually conceded 14, when, you know, we seemed to gift them quite a lot of ball in our yardage, their good ball, and I just thought the effort from the lads was absolutely outstanding.”
It’s top versus bottom on Sunday as leaders Dewsbury Rams host London Skolars.
Oldham head to Midlands Hurricanes, who have parted company with head coach Richard Squires following on from their loss to the Crusaders.
A Hurricanes statement read: “The club can announce that the Hurricanes have parted company with head coach Richard Squires.
“The club would like to thank Rich for everything he has done since joining the Hurricanes and we wish him every success in the future.”
The other League 1 match sees Hunslet entertaining Rochdale Hornets.
