Wandal – bus and vehicle incident
Paramedics attended a bus and vehicle crash on Campbell Street at 6.32pm on Thursday, 25 April and assessed 11 patients, four stable patients with minor injuries were transported to Rockhampton Hospital.
Locals caught driving dangerously
A number of people were caught breaking the law while driving by police across the Capricornia district in the week up until Tuesday.
The high range drink driver’s detected last week included motorists with a blood alcohol of 0.162 per cent Springs Road, Agnes Water, 0.252 per cent Razorback Road, Moongan and 0.189 per cent Dawson Road, Gladstone.
Some of the high range speeds detected last week included 139kmh in 90kmh zone on Gladstone Benaraby Road, O’Connell. That motorist only held their P1 license two and a half months.
Other people speeding including a motorist doing 152kmh in a 80kmh zone on the Capricorn Highway, Fairy Bower, 101kmh in 60kmh along Fitzroy Bridge, Berserker, 125kmh in 70kmh on Capricorn Highway, Emerald, and 144kmh in 100kmh along Bruce Highway, Bororen.
Police conducted 4535 RBTs, 13 injury crashes, 18 drink drivers, five drug drivers, 50 people over 20 years old speeding, one person using their mobile phone, and one person not using their seatbelt.
Archer Park closed
The Archer Park Rail Museum will be closed Sunday, 28 May while Ergon Energy conducts a scheduled power outage.
Rockhampton Regional Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

Balloon ban to save sea birds
The banning of light-than-air (helium) balloons has been welcomed by Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga, who said they killed migratory sea birds in ever-increasing numbers.
Speaking in Parliament, she said we know that balloons are the leading cause of death for migratory sea birds.
Ms Lauga also acknowledged the work of Rockhampton Regional Councillor Neil Fisher as President of Local Authority Waste Management Action Committee.
“He does an incredible amount of work in terms of waste reduction in our Central Queensland community.
“He is very passionate about the benefit of waste reduction and recycling policies, and he is a great champion for our community and for the environment in our region,” she said.
Go Maroon for QLD Day
This Queensland Day, 6 June 2023, Queensland will commemorate 164 years since separating from New South Wales.
