LEWISTOWN — First place was on the line Thursday when Reedsville made a road trip to Rec Park to battle Strodes Mills. Reedsvile came in with an 8-1 record, while Strodes Mills was in second with a 9-2 mark
The game turned out to be as close as the standings. Reedsville won 8-7.
Strodes Mills scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap to a single run.
Reedsville helped Strodes Mills’ cause with two errors. Strodes Mills only had three hits, singles from Ezra Beamer and an RBI base hit from Ben Moore. Evan Strohecker helped fuel the rally with a bunt base hit.
Reedsville’s Madden Weaver, who threw the first three innings, had to come in to get the last out with a strikeout with runners on first and third.
Nate Parkes got the win for Reedsville as he pitched three and two-third innings.
Reedsville was down 2-1 going into the sixth inning, but rallied for five runs to take the lead. Reedsville got RBI singles from Nate Parkes, Gavin Powell and Zander Lawson. Wyatt Parkes added an RBI triple. In the seventh, Reedsville added two insurance runs on run-producing base hits from Wyatt Parkes and Austin McKnight.
Reedsville finished with 10 hits. The Strodes offense was mostly the Strohecker family. Evan, the older brother, had two hits, while the rookie Jaxson had three.
Belltown 18,
Belleville 8
BELLEVILLE — Belltown broke open a close game by scoring 15 runs in the fourth and fifth innings for an 18-8 win over Belleville. The game was over in five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Belltown had 14 hits with Easton Lepley leading the way with four hits. Lepley crushed two triples.
Reese Christine had three hits for Belltown with two doubles, Lucas Shawver and Kyle Shirk each had two hits. Shirk and Payton Kearns each had doubles and Logan Baumgardner had a triple.
Belleville had nine hits. Jaden King and Jaden Kauffman each had two hits for Belleville. King had an inside-the-park home run with a man on.
Beaver Springs 17, McVeytown 1
MCVEYTOWN – Beaver Springs won its third game in a row as it downed McVeytown, 17-1. The game was over after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
The Springs finished with 11 hits. Four players had two hits each, Colten Aumiller, Braxton Smith, Westine Kuhns and Tanner Kerstetter. Smith and Kyle Shupp each had doubles and
Aumiller had a triple.
Smith was the winning pitcher. He went the distance as he gave up just three hits, struck out six and walked three.
McVeytown got singles from Elliott Yetter, Bo Benny and Shane Moist.
