Greater Bank has a new permanent home in Lismore, opening the doors to a new-look branch in the Lismore Central Shopping Centre.
The customer-owned bank has been operating out of temporary facilities for the last 15 months after its Molesworth Street branch was forced to close due to the devastation of the March 2022 flooding.
Located on the Centre’s first floor, the branch fit out incorporates a new design that features a concierge desk, transaction windows where customers can conduct their banking, a casual meeting space, and an ATM conveniently located in the shopfront.
Greater Bank’s Chief Distribution Officer, Emma Brokate, said the new permanent site not only reinforced their commitment to over-the-counter banking but also its support of customers in regional NSW.
“Over-the-counter banking has been an important and much-loved feature of our customer experience for more than 75 years. Today’s branch opening in Lismore reinforces our commitment to this service,” Emma said.
“Like so many other local businesses, we were severely impacted by the floods, but it was critical that we continued to provide our customers with traditional banking services, which we’re able to do through the Community Banking Hub at Southern Cross University and then our temporary site at Conway Plaza.
“Today is an opportunity to thank our customers for their ongoing support during a period of great disruption, as well as our Lismore Branch employees for their incredible dedication to serving our customers, while also enduring their own challenges following the flooding.
“Greater Bank has been part of the Lismore community since 1980 and today’s branch opening reinforces our commitment to servicing the region for many years to come, as well as our genuine desire to being part of a revitalised business and retail community.”
Lismore Branch Manager, Tracey Parkes, said she and her staff are beyond excited to be moving into the new branch.
“The past 15 months has been challenging for everyone. After operating out of temporary facilities for such a long time, we have been counting down the days to opening these doors and regain some normality to our daily operations,” Ms Parkes said.
“Our customers, all of whom have experienced their own challenges, have been incredibly loyal and supportive during this period, so it’s wonderful that we can give back to them with these new facilities.”
Greater Bank’s Lismore branch is located at Shop T04, Lismore Central Shopping Centre, 44 Carrington Street, Lismore.
Part of the Newcastle Greater Mutual Group, Greater Bank currently operates 53 branches across NSW and South-East Queensland, servicing more than 270,000 customers.
