Salon chain Mooeys has opened its fourth franchise salon in Newbury, Berkshire, marking its sixth location in total and its third franchise opening since lockdown.
The group, which specialises in waxing and nails, has other five branches, all in the South East, in Farnham, Surrey; Horsham, Sussex; Haslemere, Surrey; Godalming, Surrey and Petersfield, Hampshire.
The Farnham and Horsham sites are run by Mooeys with the other four branches all franchises.
The new Newbury franchise is owned by Kria Acuavera, who previously worked in nursing previously but decided she wanted her own business. “I knew that I wanted to do something for me,” she said. “I am a busy, working mum and feel that sometimes you have baggage that you don’t want to carry and just need to go to Mooeys and feel good about yourself.”
The salon hosted a launch event, attended by managers and therapists from the other Mooeys salons, as well as the local community in Newbury.
Mooeys was founded In 2012 by Amy Lewis, who opened the first salon in Farnham with a cow theme. The managers and therapists are referred to as moos and mooticians, and treatments have names such as The Ultimate Mooey.
Salon interiors also have a dairy theme, with cow print and daisy motifs, and a shabby chic countryside aesthetic.
“I am super excited to have our sixth salon join the herd! The setting is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to see Newbury’s success,” said Lewis.
Mooeys Franchise launched as a concept in 2019, offering individuals the opportunity to own and run their own business with support from Mooeys on initial funding, property contracts, marketing, staffing and more.
Mooeys also runs the Mooeys Masters’ Training Programmes, which offer franchisees who don’t have a background in beauty the opportunity to learn about the industry and how to run a salon.
