A man has been hit with a number of charges after allegedly stealing a truck and fleeing from police, before two officers were struck and “thrown across the bonnet and onto the road”.
Two police officers have been seriously injured when a truck crashed into their car west of Brisbane.
Both officers were taken to hospital suffering broken bones and internal bleeding.
Two further officers suffered minor injuries when the truck rammed another police vehicle where the driver was then arrested.
A Hino truck had been identified as stolen by police on Thursday about 1:20pm in Meringandan, which is a 20-minute drive north of Toowoomba.
Two officers stopped the vehicle and attempted to open the door before the 45-year-old truck driver accelerated and trapped them between the police car and the Hino.
They were then “thrown across the bonnet and onto the road”.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Goombungee Meringandan Rd where they found a detective senior constable, 54, with serious injuries.
He was airlifted to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
A second detective senior constable, 56, was taken by road to Saint Vincent’s Hospital also for serious injuries and remains stable.

Police will allege the truck then sped from the scene and followed closely by two marked police cars to a Goombungee waste plant.
It is there where the driver allegedly rammed into the police cars, injuring two officers. Both were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The man from Oakey has since been hit with a number of charges including two counts of attempted murder, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, break and enter, evade police, and possess dangerous drugs.
Police said they were left “troubled” by the violence and the “complete disregard” for the safety of the community and the officers on duty.
Police were also forced to use a tyre deflation device in Charlton when they spotted a Hilux ute which had also been allegedly stolen with the truck.
Two men, a 19-year-old and 28-year-old, were arrested by police.
The pair were charged with a number of charges including stealing, unlawful use of motor vehicle, and drug offences.
All three will appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
