MEMBERS of the Bendigo community are invited to attend the Greater Bendigo Climate Summit, which will be held at the Ulumburra Theatre later in the month.
The Greater Bendigo Climate Collaboration is hosting the event in two parts, with a free daytime session and a ticketed night-time event featuring author and scientist Dr Saul Griffith.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said State Minister of Climate Action, Energy and Resources, Lili D’Ambrosio will also be on hand to talk with attendees about climate action.
“This event will be a source of hope and inspiration and a great opportunity for everyone to gain some valuable information,” she said.
“By attending you will learn how we can reach zero emissions together by 2030, what you can do, what we can do together and what we can advocate for together.”
Cr Metcalf said the event will also be a platform for the community to have their say on Bendigo’s own climate action plan.
“Central to the summit is an invitation to have your say on the Greater Bendigo Zero Emissions Roadmap,” she said.
“It’s been created over the past year with 1000 Bendigo people from our community, leading businesses, community groups, partners, and experts.
“This is an opportunity to add your voice and let us know what is missing and what we need more of.”
The summit will take place Saturday, 27 May with the free daytime session running from 9am to 5pm and people can register attendance via bit.ly/3LI8GYW.
The evening session with Dr Saul Griffith will run from 6pm to 8.30pm and tickets are $5 and can be purchased here via bit.ly/3NOAld0.
