We are delighted to announce new contracts and loan deals for young duo Josh O’Connor and Murray Aiken!
Both Josh and Murray have put pen-to-paper on two-year deals with the Club, which extends their stay until the summer of 2025.
We have also agreed a deal with Scottish League One side Airdrieonians FC for the duo to spend the upcoming 2023/24 campaign with them on loan, so they can benefit from playing regular First Team football.
Managed by Rhys McCabe, Airdrieonians finished third with 60 points from 36 games and are now in the Play-Offs. They have also had Murray Johnson on loan for short spells during the current campaign.
Aiken (above) and O’Connor (below) have been integral to our Wee Hibees’ success over the last couple of seasons whether that be lifting the CAS Elite Under 18s League title, the cinch Reserve League title or the fantastic run in the UEFA Youth League.
On the new contracts and loan moves, Hibernian FC’s Academy Director Steve Kean said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to agree new deals with Josh and Murray; they both fully deserve this for their hard work and positive progression.
“Looking at their specific development plans, it’s clear to us that playing senior football regularly will push them on and bridge the gap to our First Team. I look forward to seeing how they develop.”
