Doomben horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (12:33) Bjorn Again Abba Maiden (1640m)
#7 – Houston Rocket
Houston Rocket owns four placings from four starts, so it’s only a matter of time before he scores a win.
The three-year-old son of Sebring comes off a second placing at Eagle Farm, and he only needs a touch of luck from the draw.
Punters could get each-way odds on race day.
Race 2. (13:08) Cascade Maiden (1200m)
#5 – Cassimir
Cassimir is fresh up after showing good consistency last preparation, including four consecutive second placings.
The three-year-old gelding owns two second placings from as many starts at Doomben, so he is getting close to breaking through.
It’s not an easy field, so punters could get value odds.
Race 3. (13:43) XXXX Dry Maiden (1350m)
#3 – Enterprise Success
Enterprise Success showed nothing on debut but quickly improved to run second last time out.
The three-year-old gelding ran at $21, so punters are likely to get shorter odds this time around, but it’s a tricky field.
With 3kg coming off his back, we’re happy to include him.
Race 4. (14:18) Stradbroke Calcutta BM78 (2040m)
#3 – Zadig
Zadig comes off three consecutive wins and that form is tough to look past.
The four-year-old son of Astern has yet to race at Doomben, but the new track shouldn’t worry him too much.
Dropping in weight is ideal and he could pay handsome odds.
Race 5. (14:53) Sky Racing C4 Plate (1050m)
#11 – Inasec
Inasec scored an overdue win at Toowoomba last start and returning to Doomben won’t do her chances any harm.
The four-year-old daughter of Spirit of Boom owns a win and three placings at Doomben, so it’s a course she enjoys.
The barrier and weight appeal, so include her in selections.
Race 6. (15:28) Mullins Lawyers C1 Handicap (1200m)
#3 – Orient’s Secret
Orient’s Secret improved nicely to win at Ipswich last time out and anything close to that run should be enough.
The three-year-old son of Spill the Beans won by 2.5 lengths to exit maiden grades, which means he’s good enough to rise through the grades.
Punters should get each-way odds on race day.
Race 7. (16:03) Ladbrokes Communities BM65 (1640m)
#2 – A Call from Heaven
A Call from Heaven was too quick for them at Ipswich last start and she’s worth sticking with.
The four-year-old mare owns four wins and four placings from 12 starts, so she is always around the mark.
Getting the inside draw with 3kg off her back is ideal.
Race 8. (16:33) Star Stradbroke Season BM68 (1350m)
#5 – Le Heros
Le Heros needed two runs back from a spell and he should start to show his best.
The five-year-old son of Kermadec handles rain affected tracks and getting the inside draw gives him a good run in transit.
Punters should get each-way odds.
